The root of the History of Mallabhum Institute of Polytechnic is deeply penetrated into the history of Bishnupur, the headquarters of the subdivision of the same name in Bankura district, is a seat of crafts and culture. The land is also called Mallabhum for almost a thousand years as it was the capital of Malla Kings of Mallabhum. The terracotta temples here are the best specimen of classical style of Bengal architecture. Apart from the unique architecture of the period, Bishnupur is also famous for its terracotta craft. Royal Patronage also gave rise to Bishnupur Gharana of Hindustani classical music in late 18th century which is really nostalgia for entire country.
The name (Mallabhum Institute of Polytechnic) of the college signifies the relevance to the history of the place. Our whole – system will be lame without the ‘technology – pillar’ and this institution would certainly attach a glorious feather to the crown of ‘technology’.
